I think people should argue about the existence of God- because blind faith leads to shit like the holocaust.
That being said, I still believe in God but I dont practice organized religion because I sorta believe organized religion was created to control people (like Lythium says, only I believe in God and just think people bastardize that rather than not supporting the concept of God at all).
As for why would you celebrate Christmas if you dont believe in God, I think that in our society Christmas isnt only about religion anymore. Now it's about family and showing people you love them. So it's possible to celebrate Christmas as a time to show friends and family what theyre worth to you with no religious ideas at all.

aight aight hold up hold up! i started this to get some feedback so my mate could use it in an essay! Thanks for some of the replies so far but remember everyone is entitled to there own opinion and can argue the fact that god exists if they wont, its upto them. No one should try and force something they believe somebody else just cos they cant accept what the alternate is. Anyway lets continue this sensibly! i'll take my principal hat off now!  |

I agree with Lyth's first post there. God was invented as control but got out of hand or something(think the old radio broadcast of War Of The Worlds on a larger and more permanent scale)
Someone said something about if there is no God then life has no meaning. Ahem. Duuh.
Maybe it was more than just control of crimes and things like that. Think of those cavemen, huddling together in the dark and cold, knowing with their newly-evolved intelligence that some day they have to die. How much comforted would they be if they thought that after they die they'll be in a better place? All you people who believe in God...can you handle the idea that there's nothing and that this is everything there is? I don't like that idea but I believe that that's the way things are. If you don't I won't shoot you down(coulghlikeervincough)

ok this topic is getting a little outta hand. we got the people who dont believe in God putting the people who do believe in God down and the people who believe in God putting the non-believers down. (not everyone but a lot of u are doing it) im closing this topic cuz its just gonna keep going around in circles. believe what u wanna believe in. if anyone feels that this topic MUST be re-opened, then i guess u can. but this is just an argue back and forth so CLOSED.
