from a Biblical point of view, there is evil in the world b/c satan got kicked outta Heaven for disobeying God, so when Adam and Eve were walking around on earth, no one is perfect, which allows evil. ok i make no sense..i kinda know what i wanna say but it didnt come out right..oh well- fuck it.

I don't think that it's God who is making all the evil, I think it's more peoples fault. I'm confused with the whole religion thing right now, but I do think God put us all here to do what we like. Some people decided to do evil things, thats what they did with their life, and going with what some people believe, they failed the test of life, and will go to hell; while others do good things, they choose not live 'according to what God wants'. Though I don't understand when 'evil' things (such as illness) happen to good people, I don't think that God wanted them to suffer, any faith could not be based on a God who inflicted bad on others, so I think how they reacted to this is up to them. This is the whole bit I don't get.

God created everything. To make evil was his choice, although I don't believe in God. Thats what it is.
By the way...in Hell people are punished for living "bad" lives, yes? Then how can the devil be evil? Surely if he was evil he would reward people who were evil in life, not shove pineapples up their ass(lol @ Little Nicky)
Makes no sense, like most of religion. Like- Souls. If you believe every living thing has a soul then you have to boil it down to individual cells surely? In which case a person can't hace a soul, being as we are simply a concentration camp for amoebas. Then again, you could say only Man has a soul. Which is simple arrogance.
No, I don't believe there's anything watching over us, or that anything created us from nothing. I certainly don't believe that there's something after death and the idea of worshipping a God who allows things to happen that do happen disgusts me. And why doesn't he stop real bad things happening? Example- A few thousand years ago a mass volcanic eruption wiped out several entire civilisations. Why would God allow this? 1-He can't(all powerful surely?) 2-He won't(all loving?) 3-He causes them in the first place. This makes him evil. Do we really want to worship something evil?
That gives me a pretty good idea for a story...What if the devil is good and God is evil? The devil could have rebelled and been cast out of Heaven...only punishes the bad until they repent and then they get real mercy(being punished for eternity doesn't sound like the brainchild of a Good God either does it?)

Without getting too deep in to it...
There has to be a balance or things won't work. Its not an individual balance, just one in general. Good things happen to good people is a bunch of bullshit. Good and bad things happen to everyone, just some get one more than the other.

i believe in God like 50%...or something. i don't feel like going in depth about this and stuff. but i think religion is a loada shit, its just something that people believe in.
and like matt said..."why must god be so insecure that we must worship him every sunday?" or something like that.

[glow=teal,2,300]oooh, brings backs memories of big ass religious discussion with me and matt LOL! well, personally, i believe in god, and i think that evil is always around, otherwise how are we meant to choose good over evil? (dammit, i need this for RS revision so here goes... ;D )well, if there was no evil we'd have no choice, and if we had no choice we'd have no free will, and so what god said about free will would be untrue if there was no evil. Also, evil is here to prepare us and make us better people, it makes us stronger and more resistant to hardships that get blown our way. Also, if there was no evil or suffering, how would we be able to help those in need, and to do good deeds to ppl, cuz if nothing was wrong we wouldnt need to help each other and stuff rite? And think about how uneducational life would be if everything was perfect... and i dont think its tha god is insecure, and its not every sunday ya gotta worship him, but it would have to be a two way thing, u respond to god, god responds to u, thats what i think, and yeh, i know what suffering is like and i dont always understand why its there...one of my bestest friends in the whole world is a 5 year old who was born with a rare disability and doctors thought he'd be paralysed and unable to talk, (which is actually wrong cuz i have 1 hour conversations with him on the fone about how bossy Bella from the tweenies is and pretending i know all the actions to the songs whilee he sings ;D) and i dont understand why that would happen to a child, but in a way, i dont think he would be as special if he wasnt different, that kid has been able to do so much in ppls lives and he's 4 years old, and im so proud of how much he has acheived, but as i said, i still dont understand why evil things happen to children, like the sarah payne murder, why the fuck was that bastard let free after raping a 5 year old in 1995 when the judge said he was a danger to society? ahh well, things to find out in the rest of life, but i dunno evryone entitled to their own opinions eh!
woohoo RS revision complete!!!!!! and oh, con - none taken ;D[/glow]

DUDE i learned a new word today! i am what they call...
it means..."One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God." and "One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism."
dictionaries rule. ;D anyway, that is exactly how i feel.

I do believe in God. I don't really follow organized religion, because all the ridiculous rules and regulations and ceremonies are a big turnoff to me, and I dont think they are what spirituality is or should be about. I guess some people need all that structure, but I dont. I cant even pretend to understand the wheres or hows or whys of God or religion. And the most confusing part to me is like we are discussing, why God would allow so many horrible things to happen. I look around me and see so many horrible things happen to the best people and I cant make sense of it. I have just sorta come to realize that there are some things I will never understand or make rational sense of during this life. And when I try to understand it, I just get mad and want to break shit anyway. So I just sorta figure that it doesnt matter why there is evil and suffering in the world. I just think it matters that we all do our part to ease some of that. haha what a jumbled, gay reply I have going here- I just basically saw so many people talking about how they dont believe in god or whatever, and I wanted to add my thoughts and say that regardless of why there is so much pain, we still should try to make it better.
